pottery wheelI threw my first pot in the hills of West Virgina in 1999. Sr. Jane Omlor taught me to throw in spare moments when she wasn’t wielding a chainsaw or otherwise being a   magnificent mountain woman. I had a bit of beginner’s luck and caught the pottery bug. I currently work using the pottery wheel in my home studio and share space with fellow artists at a  community clay center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

My work is generally created on a pottery wheel, though I hand build at times as well. It’s usually fired to cone 6 in an electric kiln and I mix most of my own glazes.

I support Empty Bowls Cincinnati, an amazing volunteer-run fundraiser put on by the Clay Alliance of Greater Cincinnati that benefits the FreeStore Food Bank’s Kids Cafe program. Kids Cafe provides warm meals, hygiene items, and after school activities for children in need in the Cincinnati community. I had the privilege of chairing Empty Bowls in 2011–we raised nearly $20,000. Go team!
